Andrick Borderguard & Ketchup Co.
what's in a name, anyway
Believe it or not, we're contractually obligated to tell you the story behind the name if you ask.

Andrick Borderguard & Ketchup Co. comes from J. Neil Schulman's Alongside Night, an excellent sci-fi treatise on Libertarian ideals first published in 1979. The heroes, wandering through and argorist mall, happen across a shop advertising 'Borderguards & Ketchup'. This bit of dialogue stuck in Andrick's warped little mind:
"We were wondering what you sold here," Lorimer asked.

"My sign does not convince you?" He spoke with a British accent contaminated with an overexposure to Americans.

"Should it?"

"Surely not. Gentlemen should deal neither in frontier guards or ketchup."
We definitely believe the same thing about graphic and web design; as a designer, it is important that at one level you always work for someone else. at it's worse, your job can be synonymous with putting on a set of heels and fishnets and staking out a street corner. Or as one of our instructors put it rather more genteely, you create your visions on your own time and your clients' on theirs.

Mr. Schulman, when approached about our using the name [and, we suspect, when he got done laughing] was kind enough to let us use it -- provided that we explain ourselves when asked and provide a link to his work here.
